BEACH AND BAY

Cape San Blas is like no other beach town. Part of what makes the cape unique is its geography: Cape San Blas is a narrow peninsula jutting out from the mainland town of Port St. Joe. On one side is a sugar white sand beach, and on the other, a one-of-a-kind bay with wildlife galore. From many parts of the cape you can see the Gulf of Mexico on one side and St. Joseph Bay on the other. From this special vantage point, you can enjoy gorgeous sunrises over the bay, and vivid, colorful sunsets over the gulf.

This unique peninsula grants you access to a plethora of fun activities. Head out for a day on the beach where you can collect shells, go swimming, boogie board, go surf fishing, or just sit back and relax! Or visit St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, just minutes from Seagrass, to check out the local wildlife. The state park gives you access to Eagle Harbor on the bay side, where you can go snorkeling and spot various saltwater wildlife including small and large fish, hermit crabs, turtles, crabs, sea urchins, and if you're lucky, you may even spot a seahorse! The bay is also a great place for fishing and scalloping during scallop season.

Take a kayak or canoe along the shoreline for a chance to spot even more wildlife like dolphins, horseshoe crabs, jellyfish, and dolphins! You can also rent a boat for the day and enjoy some great fishing! To help you get outfitted for whatever adventure you choose, the  Scallop Cove Too shop inside the park has rentals available, as well as fishing and boating gear, snacks, and beverages. Here, you can rent a pontoon boat, single or tandem kayak, canoe, stand-up paddle board, beach chairs and umbrella, bicycles, and dive flags.
